With Threshold Delivery your order arrives “across the threshold” or will be placed inside the first available dry area. For a home, this is inside the front door. For an apartment or office building, this is in the first-floor lobby. Orders will NOT be taken up any flights of stairs. This does not include unpacking or debris removal.

“A Cinderella that turns into a Princess,” we could write, to paraphrase Aurelio Zanotta about the process that led to the creation of the Maggiolina lounge chair.

Starting from the hypothesis of an inexpensive, dismantable armchair, it was designed by Marco Zanuso towards the end of the 1940s for a competition held by the MoMA of New York. It had a structure of curved steel tubing from which a burlap ‘bag’ was hung, the ‘pockets’ of which contained two panels of plywood, inserted to support the two padded cushions used as seat and backrest.

While designing the lounge chair Maggiolina in 1947, Zanuso experimented a brand new construction system conceived for the serial industrial production, giving up the traditional concept of an armchair with a frame made with artisan techniques.

Product Designer: Marco Zanuso

Marco Zanuso, born in Milan in 1916, was a prominent architect and designer. He gained recognition for his innovative metal tubing furniture, contributed to the establishment of the Industrial Design Association, and received numerous accolades, including several Compasso d'Oro awards. Zanuso, who taught industrial design at the Milan Polytechnic, passed away in July 2001.
